As some of you may know, last year I got a great birthday present, namely money! Well, the money was meant to be used for a fun trip of Motor Sports, i.e. fast cars on a fast track. Thence I got to play the "Star in a reasonably priced car" for a day.

I researched various facilities in Mainland Europe etc, but in the end concluded that the one recommended by ol' Wensworth (Esq) was a good fit: it looked very reasonable and as an added bonus, was close to Wensworth's residence, making it reasonable to use his quarters as Base of Operations for the journey. What he lacks in Whisky, he makes up in Port-wine and Gin&Tonics.

So down to Basel we flew; my friend Mr. Tribelet was also keen on fast cars & French cuisine, so he joined me on the Fast Expensive Automobiles Trip. The Basel weather had been really quite nice all spring, but took a nasty turn just for our visit. April is the cruelest of months, they say!

A picture is worth a thousand words, they say, therefore I shall narrate this story through these pictures (some of which were snapped by Satu, I should mention!)

Traditional start for a foreign journey: a pint of 'concrete water' at ye olde Oak Barrel :)

Mr. Tribelet losing a game or three of cribbage on the train, Zürich-Basel
H&dM's bold addition to Museum of Cultures, olde town centre
H&dM's tram stop 'oculus rift', new part of town
Typical interior courtyard in olde towne, un-sullied by H&dM
 River view
 More H&dM, Germany. Popsicle joint...

 Strict gray architecture with angles!
 Park bench - Park life?
Brekky on the rooftop, easter sunday morning. The gray skies gave way temporarily.
About an hour north of Basel, the town of Colmar. S says you can recognize this in the Miyazaki film 'Kiki's Delivery Service', and I'll take her word for it!
No windows were harmed while throwing the Frisbee(tm)-Disk in the narrow alleyways!

No Ferraris were harmed while throwing the Frisbee(tm)-Disk at the Speedway!
 "Hair's good, all's good"!
 Three Stooges...
 ... or Stig's Finnish cousins?
Indeed reasonable chariots for reasonable chaps!
This was my set of wheels: Porsche Cayman, Lotus Exige, and Ferrari 468 Italia
 V for Vengeance...
...or was it for Victory. Anyhoo.
Me and my Ferrari
Another V for Victory. Big red bus, small orange car.

 'Zone 30'?
Barbequing in an olde castle, very near to the international Steiner School headquarters.
 Chilly day
Good times were had by all!! Thanks Wensworth for the idea and the funding drive; and all who chipped in! This is one to remember :)

Keep calm & Carry on!
